Hometown: Albion IN

Major: Computer Science

Co-op Employer: ePrize

Involved in: Lambda Chi Alpha, where I've served as Brotherhood Educator and Ritualist. I currently serve as the Technology Chair of the IFC. I've played on Kettering's Ice Hockey since I was a freshman, where I usually handle Left Wing duties. I was the photo editor of The Technician my freshman and sophomore years.

Why I chose Kettering: When I toured other schools, they only promised to give an extra edge over my competition after graduation; Kettering promised to put me on a different level and as a senior, I can say confidently that they've fulfilled that promise.

Four best things about Kettering:

  1. Co-op experience
  2. Greek Life: It makes the rigorous academic schedule, the work terms in new places and moving every 3 months more enjoyable when you can have 30 best friends and several hundred alumni there to help you.
  3. The leadership opportunities that are available on small campus. Especially a campus like Kettering that is full of leaders, Kettering student's ability to lead other leaders definitely shows in the workplace.
  4. Professors that care about you as a student, a professional and as a person. It seems like everyone on campus has at least one professor that they really connect with. Most o the professors, especially those in the CS dept really work to make you a better student and try to truly mold you into a scientist.

Coolest work assignment: My coolest work assignment was a catalog manager utility that we purpose built for one of our large loyalty platform clients. The client was trying to manage the thousands of items in their catalog by some rather barbaric means, so ePrize swooped in and developed a web based catalog manager that was unlike anything else on the market. I was allowed to leverage bleeding edge web technology, the type of stuff that won't make it into a test book for years, to drive the project across the goal line and score big with our client.

Favorite Things:
Music: Of Montreal, a techno-pop band from Athens, GA and Grand Buffet, a hip-hop group from Pittsburgh
Movie: The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou and the Royal Tennenbaums
Dream car: PT Cruiser! A dream I live everyday.. or a Saab 9-3, yeah, not everyone at Kettering is car obsessed.
Hang spot: The courtyard of Lambda Chi or Soggy Bottom, somewhere quiet where I can talk with my girlfriend, Tracy.

Advice to future students: If what you really want out of your college experience is to walk away with the best textbook degree you can get and with an invaluable amount of work experience, then Kettering is the place for you. If you want to experience Division One football weekends and go to class in Ivy covered buildings, then this isn't the place for you.
