Office of the Vice President for Administration & Finance

The overarching purpose of the areas of administration and finance is to provide enabling support with resources and services to help facilitate customer-focused excellence throughout the University’s many programs. This includes providing useful information communicated in a timely and appropriately transparent manner.

Mr. Thomas W. Ayers, Vice President for Administration & Finance, is the treasurer and chief financial officer of the University and oversees an array of administrative areas.

More specifically, Mr. Ayers oversees finance functions including: accounting services, budgeting, investments, purchasing, payroll processing, and student accounts; human resources services including: employee benefit plans, training, and environmental health/safety; campus safety; facilities management including: custodial services, grounds keeping, maintenance services, project planning, construction management, and properties; and a variety of auxiliary services including: food service, catering services, central receiving & support, and virtual bookstore.

 
Bio and Contact Information

Mr. Ayers began his tenure at Kettering University on July 1, 2012. He came to Kettering University from Huntington University where he served as Executive Vice President for Operations & Treasurer. Previously he served as Business Manager & Director of Personnel at Earlham College, Director of Financial Aid at Taylor University, and Director of Financial Aid at Centenary College of Louisiana. Mr. Ayers earned a bachelor’s degree in Physics from Taylor University and later received both a master’s degree in Business Administration and a master’s degree in Student Personnel Administration from Ball State University.

Having served in private higher education for over 30 years, Mr. Ayers has spoken and served as a panelist at numerous national higher education conferences on topics of endowment management, campus master planning, campus relationships with CFOs, and atmospherics of facilities marketing. He has also been actively involved in the Boy Scouts of America and community foundation work.
