Below is the 2009 scholarship program, for those students applying for the 2010 school year please note that the 2010 Kettering Merit Scholarship Program will be announced by January 2010. Students will receive notification of their award at that time.

The Kettering Merit Scholarship is awarded to ALL qualified students. If an accepted student meets the criteria listed below he/she will be awarded the appropriate Kettering Merit Scholarship. The merit awards are 4 1/2 year scholarships.

The 2009 Kettering Merit Scholarships

* unweighted

Kettering University uses the actual GPA or a recomputed GPA (math, lab science, English only), whichever is higher. The highest individual subject matter scores on the ACT or SAT are calculated to award a merit-based scholarship. Kettering does not use the writing score on either the ACT or the SAT. Also, if a student's grades or ACT/SAT scores improve, Kettering reevaluates and adjust s the scholarship accordingly. All test scores must be received by June 1, 2010.

Kettering Merit Scholarships may be partly funded through the support of gifts from our generous friends and benefactors. Kettering University also awards need-based aid, plus, a student's earnings from co-op which can help offset educational costs. In addition, a student's earnings from co-op can help offset educational costs. Kettering students typically earn $40,000 - $65,000 over the course of the co-op program. Freshmen entering in 2008 earned an average of $12,000 in the first two work terms (based on 40 hours/week for 24 weeks).

Your Kettering scholarship is in addition to the $40,000 to $65,000 you will earn as a co-op student during your time with us. It is also in addition to any state and federal grants you may qualify for, so don't forget to complete your FAFSA.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Nearly 99% of the 2009 entering class received financial aid or scholarships, and almost 82% received a Kettering Merit Scholarship. $19,880 was the average financial aid package awarded (included gift aid as well as loans and work study). For this reason, ALL families are encouraged to file a Free Application For Financial Aid (FAFSA) to take advantage of the University's need-based aid and state and federal gift aid.
